Premise-level cast key · 苍兰诀

Character names on one side.
Performers on the other.

A useful seven-role key for the 2022 live-action series—not a cast database, biography page, or animated voice-cast list. Each match stays at the level needed to recognize who is who.

How to read a cast credit

The character is the person in the story. The performer is the real person playing that role.

So Orchid / Xiao Lanhua is the fictional character, and Esther Yu is the performer. Dongfang Qingcang is a character; Dylan Wang is his performer. The slash in the first example clarifies naming, not a second role or a second actor.

This guide uses familiar English romanization alongside Chinese characters. Subtitle tracks and provider pages may divide romanized syllables with spaces: for instance, a listing may render names as “Xiao Lan Hua” or “Dong Fang Qing Cang.” Spacing is a romanization convention, not evidence of another character or performer. The English spellings in the key below follow the verified display forms, with only documented performer spelling variants noted.

Names are labels, not plot twists

Orchid, Xiao Lanhua, and the Moon Supreme

Orchid and Xiao Lanhua

Orchid and Xiao Lanhua are two premise-level labels for the same character: the English-facing name and the romanized personal name used for 小兰花. They do not indicate two separate roles. The cast key keeps both together so a viewer can match subtitle dialogue to a provider synopsis without turning a naming difference into a reveal.

Dongfang Qingcang and his title

Moon Supreme is Dongfang Qingcang’s title, not another person and not a separate character name. A subtitle or description may use the title when referring to his position; the cast mapping remains Dongfang Qingcang — Dylan Wang.

Romanization can vary in spacing between platforms and subtitle tracks. If you encounter a spaced form, look for the full sequence of syllables and context rather than treating every spacing change as a new name. We retain the guide’s familiar spellings and include only the performer variants verified in the linked provider sources.

Adaptation check

Live-action drama, not the donghua

This cast key covers the 2022 live-action Love Between Fairy and Devil, listed with 36 episodes. Viki and international iQIYI list that live-action series. iQIYI also has a separate listing for the animated Love Between Fairy and Devil (Cang Lan Jue), a donghua.

Similar titles do not make these the same production. The seven performer matches here are for the live-action drama; this is not an animated voice-cast guide. Provider listings identify works, but they are not a promise that playback is available in your country.

Spoiler boundary: provider synopses and credits can contain spoilers, including role labels beyond the premise. This guide deliberately omits late-role labels and aliases. If you want to stay premise-level, use the matches here and avoid expanding provider synopsis or full-credit sections.
